Summary
It's been almost 6 months since the world almost ended and the crew defeated Vecna, saving Hawkins once and for all.
6 months since Eleven's sacrifice, leaving Mike officially left alone.
Dustin is off at Princeton, Max and Lucas both settled in together, Will is hours away in NYU, and the town of Hawkins seems so empty without the others.
After another movie night third wheeling with Max and Lucas, Mike finally has had enough. He's set on driving on his own to see Will 11 hours. Across the country.
To get over his grief and spend time with his best friend.
Because that's what best friends do... right?

They were friends.
And yeah, maybe the ring on his finger sort of burned when he looked at her sometimes, even though it was just for show, now.
It was just easier to let her keep thinking he was still married to Abby. Safer.
It raised less eyebrows about the nature of their friendship when the ring stayed on while he was at work, the weight on his finger reminding him not to say or do anything stupid.
It also made it a little less creepy when the pet names started slipping out.
