    Summary

Leo blinks, and the wetness in his eyes spills out, and Raph just wants to pick him up. Carry him somewhere safe. Leo has always been larger than life, but right now he looks impossibly small.

“Hey, hey,” Raphael soothes, the same way he has a thousand times before, after bad dreams and skinned knees, “you’re okay. Raph’s here, you’re okay.”

Those gold eyes slide to the side, looking at a point behind Raph. Leo’s arm moves, and something cold and solid presses against Raph’s chest. It’s the key, and Leo’s hand is trembling so hard that Raph’s closes around it instinctively, taking the weight of it from him.

Because he’s Leo, the corners of his mouth quirk into a smile.

“I told you,” he says hoarsely. It somehow manages to sound wry, like they’re in on a joke together. “I got it.”

Raph is seconds too late getting to Leo in the warehouse, and Leo is taken by the Krang instead.

    Summary

Leo waited. His leg was growing painfully numb under the ice. He wanted to rip the pack off and heave it across the room where it could shatter on the floor. Instead, he forced himself to stay quiet as he watched everyone disperse on their assignments, feeling his heartbeat inexplicably rise in his chest until he finally couldn’t stand it anymore.

“And me?” Leo looked to Splinter. “I know portaling is kinda off the table right now, but, you know, plans are still kinda my thing. Just give me a minute—an hour max—and I know I can come up with a place for us to stay...” Leo’s voice faded as Splinter placed a warm pink hand on top of his own, making it lay still.

“Do not worry, my baby blue.” He said, giving the back of his hand a pat, a soft smile reaching his furry face. “I know exactly where we will go.”

    ----------

Leo knew losing an arm would be a hard change. He just didn’t know exactly how many changes he'd have to deal with. Turns out that narrowly avoiding the Krang apocalypse doesn't mean everything goes back to normal.

    Summary

And then there’s Leo,” continues Raphael, unfazed. “He’s—”
“We know,” Casey interrupts. The pit in his chest yawns dark and deep and awful. “I— I know. He’s gone. I— I’m sorry, Master Raphael.”
    Silence from the comms.
Then, quietly: “Shit,” says Raphael. “Donnie, did you not tell ‘em—?”
“Well, SORRY if I decided I wanted to make sure NO ONE DIED before I dumped EARTH-SHATTERING, LIFE-CHANGING NEWS on our UNSUSPECTING FAMILY—”
“How are we gonna break it to ‘em?” Raphael asks. “I don’t even know how to SAY it—”
“I mean, we could always go for the ‘Oh No, Leo’s Dead, Sometimes I Can Still Hear His Voice’ route—”
Someone in the background gives an indignant yell at that.

(The missing scene directly after they pull Leo out of the prison dimension, in which Casey breaks down, the boys break some good news, and April breaks into a car. In that order.)

    Summary

For once, Donnie really, really hopes he's wrong about this. Not even because of how painful it had been – he'd already known that, he'd seen Leo's injuries, hell, he'd been the one to treat them for the most part – but… he remembers way too clearly all the thoughts that had been running through dream his-not-his head. If that's how Leo had been thinking…

    But he has to know.

"Bits of spaceship debris everywhere. No ground outside of some large pieces of floor or wall or – or whatever. Any –"

Leo freezes. "How do you know all that?"

Well, shit. Donnie inhales. Exhales. Tries not to think about how hopeless dream him-not-him had felt. Tries not to think about any of it, really.

"I think we may have mind melded. I think – I think I saw your dream."

Or: that's probably not how mind melds are supposed to work.

    Summary

It was time for his self-improvement era. He was going to create a Leo that everyone would love. This was great, actually. He could take constructive feedback. He could make this work. Just a couple points, some things he needed to take action on.
