Summary
After disappearing for two years, Wei Ying is dragged back into his old life kicking and screaming, almost literally. Add in some memory loss, fussy babies, and truly awkward family dynamics, and Wei Ying really just can't be expected to handle this maturely.

This one does and Wei Ying can’t say why. He’s about his age and wearing a loose white T-shirt with thin blue stripes. It looks cool in the unseasonably warm spring air. Mian Mian would call it a Breton top. French, she’d say, as if it were a special secret. Chic.
He’s with a small child. A girl. He stands near her as she climbs the climbing frame with bandy steps, craning towards him for his attention when she should be looking at the bars. He looks interested, calm, but Wei Ying can tell he’s poised. Ready to catch.

Summary
Lans are decisive about things that they want. If things are in their way, they'll eradicate the obstacle to get to their prize. So when little Lan Zhan meets Wei Ying and decides mine there isn't a Lan that feels particularly inclined to stop him. If only the Jiang sect had got that memo, then maybe they could've avoided falling into ruin.
