Summary
James Potter has a very bad week.
The Ministry has fallen into Voldemort's hands. He's on the run, not knowing how his friends are doing and if they are even alive. The only thing he can do is travel north and hope to find the rest of the Order there.
When a much-needed bath in a lake ends with a Death Eater surprise, James is forced to run once more – only to get Prongs' leg caught in a hunting trap.
Things are not great for James Potter, but they might take a turn for the better when help enters his life in the form of Sirius Black.

No. That's not how this story began. It didn't end with a happily ever after either. James doesn't like fairy tales all that much because they lie. His story began in a dodgy flat with rusty pipes and ended with him losing his best friend and the possible love of his life all at once. Fairy tales can piss off.
Ten years after his non-happily ever after, struggling to find footing in his next project, James still believes this. The new doctor taking over his son's care isn't going to change that. No way. He couldn't possibly.

Summary
Remus never went to Hogwarts. No instead he joined pack, one who was against both Dumbledore and Voldemort, who believed in peace and hid themselves from the war. When the pack Alpha dies and leaves Remus in charge, Remus does his best to fill his mentors' shoes.
No one ever trusted Sirius Black, no one except James Potter. So, the Order made a plan, get rid of Black. They tied him up in the forest on a full moon and left him to the wolves, literally. When they returned, Peter informed James Sirius was lost on the Order mission. James does not believe them.
Sirius is hurt, scared, and alone. He manages to transform into Padfoot even with the binds the order put on him. When the pack of wolves find him, Sirius is waiting for the end, until the pack leader comes up and curls around him, protecting him the rest of the night. In the morning, Sirius is brought into the pack, he finds a home in the forest. But he never forgets the best friend he was forced to leave behind.
