It’s been seven years since Will Byers vanished from Hawkins for the second time; seven years since he picked up his life, moved across the globe, and finally settled. There’s a loud clatter as Mike Wheeler springs back from the phial of Amorentia after smelling it like it’s about to bite him, his hip slamming into the edge of a nearby desk. The impact sends it wobbling, and a potion book skids off the surface, hitting the floor with an unceremonious thud.
Mike glares at the book as if it personally offended him, making no move to pick it up.
Then he looks up—and catches Will’s eyes.
His face collapses instantly, twisting into something between horror and grief, and he drags his hands over his face like that might undo whatever just happened.
“Oh my god,” he says, muffled. “I’m so screwed.”
“What the actual fuck, Mike?” Max says flatly.
