i have no words because of how absolutely phenomenal this book is — especially the analogies. god… i wanted so badly to talk about these… analogies with someone! i mean, the way the “sun” was described here — it’s so freaking poetic it nearly enchanted me to the point that i was hypnotized. i was so entranced, it got me staring at one particular corner because of how beautiful the verses were that i just had to pick it apart in my head like a mad scientist determined to catch a breakthrough. i caught myself under a different level of daydreaming, so seated at the edge of my seat. the pining was so beautifully expressed i could literally write essays about how it was executed so perfectly. i love this!

such a beautiful concept of a story, and so well-written might i add. as i read it and was nearing the ending, i was awashed with intense grief of never finding a book like this ever again. i wish i had more books like this at my disposal — ones so unique from the actual storyline, it ignites a strange fire in my heart that compells me to write. i find that i liked when there are stories like this; stories that has… this sort of enchanting twist in the actual plot (not an alternate universe per se, but like an insertion of ‘what if the story has this’ kind of way, and it’s so well-thought and fleshed out that i’m literally speechless). i find myself highlighting a lot of words and phrases that resonated with me as i progressed, and it almost as if i was meant to find this book, somehow. i wonder… how long would it take for me to find a book like this again?

    hopefully, not too long.

    Summary

When an unfortunate incident causes both her and her sworn enemy to detransform in front of each other, Marinette knows she is screwed. Because even though Chat Noir turns out to be her former polite classmate, it doesn’t mean that he stops being an asshole to her. So it’s no wonder he starts toying with her like the manipulative bastard he is.

The only solution? Take his Miraculous and be done with him forever. And never forget that he’s no more than her enemy.

    Never.

I haven’t read a fic this good in so long! Every thing that had transpired in this fic will reside in my head rent-free, for forever — stored at the back of my mind without complaint. I love the way how the enemy dynamic (which is my favorite alternate universe) is portrayed in this book, not only that, the author beautifully expressed the contradiction between wanting and hating someone at the same time. That conditional itch that needed to be scratched, holding one’s self back, how one’s mind stood as a barrier, and the complexities of the emotions behind such paradoxical attraction towards a person you’re not supposed to love. The overall chemistry of this book is unmatched to everything I had ever read bearing this trope, not to mention the characterization is superb. It’s everything I could ever want in an Enemies AU. I cannot explain how many emotions I felt reading this — it’s strangely poetic. The back and forth, Adrien’s shift in character (that alone gave me intense feels!), the tension, the contradiction that is Marinette’s feelings, the angst, and the longing — all cohering into this… perfect magnum opus that is this book. I highly recommend this.

still the best fanfiction I have ever read — like EVER. nothing could top it. any book i’ve read after this had to suffer the implication that i had read this book and there’s no going back to a life without it.
