Tony takes his time padding over to the hut.
Each step feels like he’s barely moving a fraction of an inch, but he forces himself to keep going.
The hut is empty when he peers inside.
“Hi.”
Tony startles, an odd little noise escaping him. When he turns around, Barnes is standing behind him.
“Hi,” Tony returns, his voice rough.
He looks different, Barnes, hair longer, beard thicker, eyes clearer, sharper, more vivid, less haunted, less hungry.
Barnes swallows thickly. “Are you here to kill me?” he asks.
Tony shakes his head. “No, I’m not.”
