    Summary

“Kogane,” he asks, quiet and stretched out in an apartment that looks to be one in several hundred in a building where the lights have all burnt out, “show me the leaderboard.”

Its eyes shine in the light from the moon outside; whoever owns this apartment will have to replace the curtains, if society survives whatever this is.

That train of thought ends abruptly; there’s someone with forty-seven points. It has to be the person he’d noted yesterday, he thinks; Kento himself is around fifth, lots below him with small counts. Today he remembers the name — Higuruma Hiromi. Kento doesn’t recognize him, not a player he’s seen around in the jujutsu world that he can recall. Not an offshoot of Jujutsu High, not a member of a clan Kento knows. I should find him, Kento thinks. That’s the competition. He could explain why Kento hasn’t seen many people milling around, moving through the city; the chances of being killed are higher with someone like that out there. Kento could probably engage him, he thinks, if push comes to shove, but it would be better overall to wait, observe him.

In the morning, Kento decides, he’ll have a destination: Higuruma Hiromi.

    "Do you still remember?"

“Maybe it’s better,” the angel says, forlorn, “if you don’t remember.”
    “Remember what?”
“For what follows, I’m sorry. But Kephale always remembers, and I promise not to forget this.”
Phainon frowns. Kephale? That name tickles something, but he doesn’t know what. It feels weird, like that pudding that got him sick last month.
    “Forget what?”
“Remember them; the ones that won’t reach the dawn.”

Visions burn behind his eyelids ever since, and the fire roars forever more in the canvas of a picture. Mydei used to quench the fire, for a while, but he never understood what art truly means for Phainon. So why, fifteen years later, does Phainon find Mydei stand there, staring up at a painting of burning gold?

“He’s dead, Dan Heng.” Their noses brush together with every word, every breath. “You’re here and he’s not.”

“I know,” Dan Heng says, his eyes shining with something almost regretful even as he inhales heavily, forcefully. “I can’t change that.”

Blade shakes his head. “You don’t understand.” He reaches for Dan Heng’s hand, waiting until it’s given to press it to his chest. “You’re here and he’s not, so stake your claim, Dan Heng.”

Or: After absorbing the Earth Titan’s coreflame and saving Amphoreus, Dan Heng starts going through ruts. When he tries to handle it by himself, his thoughts keep drifting to one particular man...whom he accidentally sexts. Instead of getting stabbed, Dan Heng gets something even better: Blade's help.

    Summary

“You’ll break your ankle if you do it like that.”

The things that happen in flashes of moments, leading to roads unthought of, is how people can end up in the most unexpected of places — for Phainon turns on his heel abruptly, failing to catch himself in time as he trips over his own boot. Time slows for him as he waits, waits, and waits for his back to hit the ice. There is a poet, whose work he read in the tucked-away corner of the library where cosy chairs and warm mugs of tea steamed between him and his classmates, who once wrote; “the world will end not with a bang, but with a whimper” — and perhaps, this is how Phainon’s world ends.

A young man from Aedes Elysiae. A man who grew wings to touch greatness only to fall back down again. An angel found in the cold, lifeless fluorescence of a skating rink. Phainon; he almost had it all.

    Summary

In the kingdom of esports, there is a prince - Mydei. He has everything: fame, money, millions of admirers. Everything but one thing - a spark. He is a perfect victory machine, long having forgotten what it means to truly play.

And then there's Cinderella - Phainon. He has nothing but debt, an old laptop that roars like an airplane, and a talent seen only by a handful of loyal friends.

Their worlds were never meant to collide. But one random tournament, one temporary nickname, and one brilliant play change everything. The Prince notices someone in the crowd of no-names who makes his heart beat faster. But Cinderella, true to the canon, flees the ball. And this time, he doesn't even leave a glass slipper behind.

Obsessed with the search, Mydei issues a 'royal decree 2.0', turning the entire internet upside down. But finding his Cinderella is only the beginning. It's much harder to convince him that he's not just another trophy. And even harder to protect their fragile fairytale from the dragons of the real world, who wear not scales, but hoodies, and are armed not with fire, but with knives.
