Summary
The first thing Neal noticed when he entered the office floor was that most of the agents were absent from their desks. The second thing he noticed was a commotion in the conference room. The third thing was Peter giving him the finger point through the glass. By then, he should have been on high alert, expecting anything from a particularly high-end case to his own imminent demise. But nothing could have prepared him for what awaited him once he’d climbed the stairs.

Summary
She’s intending on looking for the inhabitant, asking if they need anything, but the room is empty. It isn’t dissimilar to all the others. A single bed with the sheets made, a window with curtains, a desk with a framed photograph. A gun sits disassembled on the bedside table, and on one wall is a painting of a red flower, simple but elegant, on a green backdrop. The wall opposite the painting’s has a display case, and inside there appear to be several models of… arms. Prosthetic arms.
Meryl looks back at the gun on the table. Yup: That’s Peacemaker. Vash’s gun. Meryl takes an alarmed step backwards and knocks right into someone’s very firm chest.
“I’m so sorry,” Meryl splutters automatically. Vash’s hands have fallen to her shoulders, just to steady her; she knows they’re his because the weight of his prosthetic is just a little bit different, a little heavier, and she can feel the latch on his palm where he can engage a second gun. This is definitely Vash’s bedroom. “I didn’t mean to—the door was just open and I thought—”
“Meryl,” Vash says through a laugh.
