Summary
Donnie blinked at Leo, trying to tighten his loose grip on Leo’s wrist. He had never seen Leo so sad, the pained grimace on his face made Donnie think that his very soul was being ripped in half.
But then again, maybe it was. Because Donnie was leaving him. In the most horrible and final way that he could be leaving him. This was something Donnie could not come back from, nor stop, and it was destroying a huge part of Leo in the process.
Donnie regretted that. He’d never wanted to hurt Leo. His brother. His best friend. His better half. Because Leo had always been that. Leo might not think so, but he’d always been the better of them. Donnie had to let him know that.
He tried to open his mouth. To speak. But his body was refusing to obey him. It was strangely terrifying, yet freeing at the same time. He was feeling less and less connected to his body.
But he couldn’t go yet. Not yet. There was something he had to tell Leo first. Something he had to do.
For as long as Donnie can recall Leo has insisted they are twins, but there is no scientific data supporting Leo's claim. It just isn't possible. Is it?

the question is small, smooth, silent. The voice is calm, wispy, like something is being asked that it shouldn't.
Alarm bells blare like tsunami sirens in Kanao's head.
"I mean, yes? It can be really pretty, that's why you come out here right?"
And there's truth to that, the sun has laid to rest and his sister has awoken for her turn in the sky, the air is sticky, unrelenting summer humidity. And it makes Kanao wish she had worn a tank top instead of a t shirt, but in all seriousness, she hadn't expected Genya to text her and ask if she wanted to sneak out to the old pond down by the lane.
