Summary
Rhaenyra attempts to convince herself she’s in the right place, but it’s hard to feel like she is. Even once she makes it to the front door, she paces back and forth, body hunched and trapped in the doubt and the nerves that keep her soul bound and breathless.
And then…
She knocks.
A man with white-blond hair cut ear length and slicked back—hair that is the same exact shade as hers—opens the door. He’s a statue cut in marble, angles protruding along the bridge of his nose and his cheekbones, darkened violet eyes widening upon the sight of her. Daemon—her uncle.
“Rhaenyra? What are you doing here?”
She shifts her weight from foot to foot, then opens her mouth and closes it. “Hasn’t my dad warned you?” she asks, the lie supple and velvet in the comfort of her mouth. She has always been a good liar.Or: Rhaenyra seeks out Daemon to escape her past.
