    Summary

No one quite knows what to do with him, now.

A boy saves the world. And then he does it again, and again, and again. Link has slain demon kings, rescued goddesses and princesses alike, and walked through the dreams of a god; Link has lived the old legends, a Hero caught up in the threads of his own tapestry. It is being woven around him with every step of new land that passes beneath his restless feet.

What does a hero do, once the evil is slain? What does a dreamer do, after they wake from the dream?

It is only for a moment. Only a breathtaking bit of an eternity. The song finishes. The man vanishes into the marketplace, just another traveler, but for the flash of a jeweled pin, a red flower, tucked above his ear.

But the song was heard; by people, by gulls, by the very wind itself. It finds itself hummed by idle throats, cried out by gulls in their flight, put to string and song. It has been caught by the sails of ships, in the weave of canvas and twist of rope. They sing the Ballad out among the waves, and the ocean adds its own voice to the melody, deep and powerful and unending.

    Summary

Legend notices Hyrule has been disappearing into the woods for weeks.

    Then Warriors goes with him.

    Then Wind.

    Then Wild.

    Then Four.

Naturally, Legend concludes there is a secret hero club and he has not been invited.

'Legend slowly lowers himself behind a bush. “…What in Hylia’s name,” he whispers, “is that.”

Wild approaches the shack like this is normal. Like this is a place one goes, like there is nothing concerning about a murder shed lashed together with stolen accessories and weirdly well put together shelves.'

Wild says, brightly and disastrously, “I think Legend is having a coolness crisis.”

    Time blinks once. “A what.”

Four, who should know better, adjusts his notes and says, “A reputational correction attempt.”

Twilight, apparently deciding the damage is already done and therefore honesty may as well join the wreckage, says, “He’s upset we think he’s sensible.”

Legend stands. “I will bury all of you.”

    Summary

One year ago, Danny Fenton went missing off of one of his eccentric marine biologist parents' expeditions at sea. They say he dove too deep and never came back up.

    He was presumed drowned.

But a year later, a grieving Tucker and Sam discover a mysterious creature injured in the shallows under the boardwalk. As they try to help it, they uncover a mystery that could change everything for the sleepy seaside town of Amity Cove... and, just maybe, that their missing friend isn't as dead as they thought.

It was a boy in a tattered wetsuit, with blood—red blood—dripping from a self-inflicted claw wound at the back of his neck. He stared out at them from the darkness, arms curling around himself as if to protect himself from the light. There was that same animal terror in his eyes, but they were blue now. His hair was black. His freckled face was just how Tucker remembered it.

The creature had dried out in the closet.

Now, in his place, sat Danny Fenton. Bloodied, human, here.

    Summary

Sky carries the Master Sword like a blessing, Time carries it like a wound. Four sees a legend in the First Hero. Time sees a reminder of everything he resents. It would be easier if Sky weren’t so good.

Four is small and quiet. Balanced in a way that feels earned, not gifted. Brave without fanfare. Clever without cruelty. Human enough that Time sometimes forgets he had ever put him on a pedestal, until moments like this, when The Hero of Men looks at Sky like Sky belongs on the pedestal instead.

Time tells himself it doesn’t matter.

He tells himself it’s natural. Sky is senior. Sky is origin. Sky is the first king and the first hero and the first wielder of the blade that has crawled its way into every century like a parasite disguised as salvation. Of course Four would admire him. Time keeps his eyes on the trees. He keeps his breathing even. He keeps his face neutral. Inside, something small and ugly stirs.

“I asked him once,” Four continues carefully, “if he thought the blade was good.”

Sky’s head lifts slightly at that. Time keeps his expression neutral.

“And he said,” Four goes on, voice steady, “that a sword isn’t good or bad. It’s a tool. It only becomes sacred because people decide to kneel.”

    Summary

It's like a hammer, a bludgeon, growing stronger and stronger. He can't take it anymore.

Sky grabs the little wires in his ear and yanks, dropping the pair down on the table with an abrupt jerk of his hands.

    Silence.

    Blissful, blessed, sanctified silence.

Sky shakes his head. "Not, yet, I—" he frowns, not even sure how to say the thing he wants to say. "Hearing… what?"

Confusion passes over Wars' face, and then clarity. "Rain, Sky." His brother smiles. "You're hearing the rain."

"Rain makes sound?" he asks, genuinely dumbfounded.

"Yes, Sky," Time signs with a laugh. And it is low and it is heavy, and it sounds like how thunder feels.
