Summary
The first time Steve asks Tony to marry him, Tony doesn’t even hesitate to tell him no. Steve isn’t terribly surprised. They’ve only been dating for two weeks. Steve had gone back to the tower after SHIELD had fallen, strode up to Tony, and gotten as far as, “As the world’s leading expert on waiting too long,” before Tony had stopped him by kissing him. It’s been two whirlwind weeks since then and he’s already certain that he wants to spend the rest of his life with him but asking him right after the first time they have sex had probably been a bad idea.
So, no, Steve isn’t surprised Tony tells him no.
He’s more surprised that Tony says sleepily, “Ask me again in the morning.”
He means to. He really does. But the morning brings with it a board meeting that Tony’s running late for and a possible sighting of Bucky and he forgets all about it.

Opening the drawer of Steve’s desk – and lord was it bad enough he was sat in Steve’s office, little used as it was, to read that infernal letter – he rather wished he had.
No hint of them, in this room, in the letter. No hint of even a second of it; except for the little black velvet box tucked away in the drawer. The ring nestles in deep red material, a thick golden band with a blue star inlaid. In a different circumstance, the answer would be shaking, and the ring would be slipped on with gentle fingers-
He’s not even sure when he lost it, he just knows that it’s not his, anymore.
How a what-if before Lagos went from being the wrong choice, to the right choice. A Stony Civil War fix-it.

Summary
The t-shirt was the most hideous shade of green, which, combined with the plaid pattern, created something downright atrocious. And those shoes – they dissented from the entire outfit, somehow too formal and also ready to fall apart at the same time. The jacket was okay, but it clashed terribly with the shirt, its brown leather matching the shoes way more than advisable.
All in all, the khakis were the most acceptable part of the whole look – a sentence Tony had never thought would cross his mind.
