This confession seems to weigh so heavily upon him that Sora wants to laugh, to crack a joke, do anything to lift Riku's head and see his usual half-fond, half-exasperated expression. It can't be that bad. Nothing ever is.
– Is what he used to say. But that was before the Keyblade Graveyard and Quadratum, and this is now. This is here, in a too-small bed they share because Sora can't stand to be alone anymore and Riku seems to have forgotten how to tell him no.
