The doctor smiled and Scott hated it. It was like every word he spoke was an inside joke. "It's getting late. I'll walk you home."
"No, I'm perfectly capable of-"
"I have something to show you." Legundo stood up and reached out a hand to him.
Scott looked down at his hand and looked back up at him. There was something so eerily familiar about this and he wasn't sure why. But he didn't have anywhere to go, not really. So, Scott took his hand without much fanfare and stood up. "Lead the way, then."

"A good point." Scott twirled his bishop with two fingers before setting it down. "But it seems we've come to an impasse. Oakhurst cannot both be ours."
"At least that's something we can agree on." Legundo picked up the pace, setting down chess pieces as fast as he could. As always, Scott matched him stride for stride. "So what do you propose we do?" He asked, because he knew Scott already had a plan.
"This is what I'm thinking." Scott pushed his queen out into the board, a way to tease him. "If the humans can turn beacons holy, then the only thing we need to do to deter them is to make them unholy." He smiled with all of his fangs as Legundo focused on the game. For every one chess piece he could capture, Scott would move his own pieces into perfect traps. Sometimes Legs could evade them, sometimes he could not.
A cat and mouse.

OR:
Doctor Legundo never mourned Scott Goldsmith, even if he was the closest thing he would ever have to having an equal. Yet, as humans come to Oakhurst for the first time in six hundred years, they find themselves playing their eternal game yet again.

"Everything alright?" Abolish asked as the two continued to traverse towards the crypt.
"Just some old memories popping up. You know, this place used to not have crypts. It's really changed so much over the years."
"…Interesting," Abolish slowly spoke as he ducked under a gnarled tree. He chose not to bring up the fact that the crypts around Oakhurst were so decrepit that they had to have been around for at least a hundred years, if not more.
When Louis did not correct himself, Abolish took note of it but stayed silent. He knew his organization had informed him of potential vampires being found in the town, but he did not realize the one he would find would accidentally reveal himself so easily.

OR:
Despite Abolish keeping to himself most of the time, he can't deny that Louis has an allure to him until they're alone in the crypts together.

Summary
Standing up, he walked over to the mirror and traced its golden frame. Scott peered into it, trying to see if it had anything useful inside.
Doctor Legundo stared back. Scott jumped.
"Scott?" Legundo's voice sounded muffled through the mirror. He could at least find comfort in the fact that he hadn't somehow gained the doctor's face. Not that it wasn't handsome, he could respect that, but his human body looked painful to be in. "Where are we?"
"I was just about to ask you the same thing." Scott smoothed his collar as he tried not to look like a irritated cat. "You're in a mirror."
"No, you're in a mirror." Legundo looked confused.
"I'm in a room. You're in the mirror," Scott spoke slowly, trying to make the doctor understand.

OR:
Sometimes, two people have to be trapped into a duplicating magic mirror room to truly understand that they are two parts of the same whole, whether they like it or not. It's either they understand, or they die.

Being stuck in the Nether was Hell.
I mean, it is LITERALLY Hell.
But for Finn, Finn Nylium, Finn the Failed Blazeborn, it was worse than he'd ever imagined. Worse than those nightmares. Worse than what he did to those humans.
OR
Finn Nylium is scared in the Nether and he misses his friends back home.

Scott Goldsmith is cured into a human, and is forced to face similar horrors to what he put others through.

So Scott perches down to a beacon below, turning back into his humanoid form in a perfect, practiced motion of hundreds of years. He sits at the beacon and takes some time to enjoy the view. He missed the trees, and the grass, and the way the stars shined up in the sky, so, so bright.
He sits, knowing he is safe.
Safe this far from the humans.
Safe within himself.
Unsafe.
