Summary
Izuku learned from a young age that being a hero wasn't going to happen. He left the idea behind a long time ago decided that he didn't actually want to be a hero. Izuku had been living in an orphanage since he was 6 when his mother was killed in a villain attack that happened to hit their house. He was gonna be 11 soon so he knew the idea of getting adopted was sliming. He had tried several foster homes over the years but nobody wanted him for long once they learned how useless he was.
Aizawa Shouta and Yamada Hazashi had been married for a few years now and wanted to expand their family beyond a few cats. They figured adopting would be the best for them. They had decided they didn't care about age or anything like that because they were just going to pick based on their personality. That sounded cheeky but it was true. What they hadn't meant to do was find a kid who was so scared beyond belief to capture their hearts. Now they had to figure out how the hell they were going to teach this kid that he did in fact deserve a good family. Also, Aizawa now had some past foster families to go beat up. pretend you didn't read that he likes his life and jobs.

The devastation that Izuku feels now is much quieter, a contrast to that day at the battlefield. Everything had been so loud and vivid back then. He remembers the thud of pelting rain as the sky cried down on them, the rap of his fist as it met Shigaraki’s body. The muffled voices of his teachers and other heroes telling him to stop, Deku, please stop.
He wants to laugh at them now and ask, how do I go on? To say, I’ve stopped a long time ago, when Kacchan’s heart stopped too.
Kacchan is in comatose. A butterfly lands on Izuku's balcony.
