It seemed like a sick joke that I’d refused it at sixteen only for it to come back and haunt me barely two years later. I’d been avoiding Poseidon since Gaia had been defeated. The last thing I needed was for him to confirm it.

It looked molten, as though it was bleeding into the iris. They were mesmerizing and, currently, the only outward sign of his divinity. It felt like they were pulling me in.
Thalia’s words echoed in my mind, ‘Apollo is hot.’
