"That was close," he said quietly. You could feel the vibration of his words through his chest, the low rumble sending awareness skittering across your nerves.
You tilted your face up, studying his expression in the dim light filtering from the street.
His pupils had blown wide, leaving only a thin ring of blue, and suddenly you couldn’t look away.
You built your career keeping dangerous Praedators off the streets. As the youngest captain of the LCBI's most successful enforcement unit, you're very good at your job. When the unit's increased workload forces you to hire an assistant, you expect competent filing and decent coffee. Xavier Shen, an unremarkable astronomy graduate desperate for work, delivers. He's quiet and reliable, exactly what you need.
But when a dangerous case lands on your desk and powerful interests offer assistance with hidden costs, you discover that your reluctant new partnership with EVER Corp isn't what it seems.

Summary
When bandits threaten your village the town is forced to turn to the dragon living in the mountain for help. The best tribute to send a dragon has always been a beautiful maiden. Your name was the unlucky one chosen to climb the mountain and beseech the dragon for help in return for your life. Unbeknownst to you or anyone in the village, the rumored dragon is not what you were expecting. He's a man...partly. And he has no interest in eating you. If you remain in the mountain with him he'll protect your village. You agree.
During your stay you embark on a journey as you get to know your new draconic master. He was not what you expected in so many ways and you find yourself facing forbidden desires and unforeseen bonds. He says that dragons do not love, but perhaps he is more human than he wants to be.

To her horror she finds it's up to her to repay the debt to the Sea God's satisfaction.
(Or: MC is a somewhat unwilling sacrifice left for Rafayel who decides the only way for her village to pay for the life of the Lemurian child they killed is for her to make a new one with him. Fortunately, he has just the tools he needs to do that thanks to some fancy Lemurian biology ... )
