Summary

When his father pushes him to join a competition for Crown Princess Jiang Yanli's hand, Lan Wangji blurts out that he’s already courting Wei Wuxian to the delight of his mother. Wei Wuxian agrees, in exchange for his help convincing Wen Qing to join the competition and win. Unfortunately for their plans, the Emperor of Lanling’s nephew is cheating his way through the competition, and if he wins, the entire Kingdom of Yunmeng will fall into a deep sleep that could last centuries.
Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji must keep up the courting act in front of their parents and prevent the curse from taking effect, all while ignoring their very real feelings.

The window slid open with ease and Wei Ying climbed out into the tree. He would get settled somewhere and then write to Lan Zhan. They could exchange letters, until Wei Ying managed to afford a phone so they could talk. Maybe Lan Zhan could visit him.
Wei Ying stole away into the night, not then aware of what else he was taking away with him. He wouldn’t know for another four months the gift Lan Zhan had given him, growing inside him. He also didn’t know that he would never get any replies back from his letters to Lan Zhan.
Thirteen years after Wei Ying received no response to his letters about their son, he meets Lan Zhan again.

But as Hanguang Jun approaches, Wei Ying loses the battle against his eyes, and allows himself to look just a little bit.
The man is gorgeous. There’s no other word for it. His face looks like it was perfectly sculpted by a talented artist, not to mention the definition of his body. The leggings he wears show the leg muscles of someone who has probably been doing some form of acrobatics ever since they were a kid, and his arms are huge under his t-shirt. Huge. He’s just as tall as Wei Ying is, but his fit body makes him look shorter, somehow. Wei Ying swallows again, wondering if he has ever seen anyone who looks more like the ideal of beauty in his life.
And then the man starts talking.

The kid’s a scrawny thing, more scowl than person. He hefts his bag and says snottily, “I’m Mo Xuanyu, and I’m here as punishment.”
"Gotcha!" Wei Ying says brightly. “And what did you do that’s so bad you have to spend all summer on our little farm?”
An even bigger scowl. It’s threatening to take over his entire body. It’s cute.
“I told the truth.”
“Mm, and what’s that?”
