Zhang Hao, a familiar for most of his life, makes a wish to be human again. Hanbin, village witch who never puts himself first, finds himself falling fast for the strange new man in town whose heart beats in time with his own.

Hanbin wasn't sure what he expected to find crouching over him, be it a human intruder or a strange creature of the night. Illuminated in that brief light was something blessedly human, though their eyes burned fever bright in the darkness.
That same face that had plagued him in the cemetery, entirely too human for what it actually was.
A corpse. Or at least, what was meant to be a corpse. Not a living, breathing person, soaking wet and scowling at him. Those bright eyes turned their gaze from Hanbin’s face to his fingers, at the ring resting in his palm, and opened its mouth to speak.
