Shadowheart tensed when Vaelyn caught her looking through her things. “I didn’t mean—”
“—Go ahead,” Vaelyn shrugged. “Anything on this floor is mine, and I don’t care if you look through my things.”
“Don’t you?” Shadowheart asked. She tried not to flinch when her eyes settled on the book titled ‘Cult De-Programming’.

Vaelyn escaped the cult of Bhaal a couple of years ago and moved far away to try and make her own life. She realizes that she’s pretty good at private investigation.
Shadowheart is deeply embroiled with the Church of Shar, but has started to wonder where her real family is at. She could never ask her Mother Superior about them without getting in trouble. She needs someone discrete. She needs someone who she can afford on her small pension.

Summary
After everything, Shadowheart was mostly nervous that Vaelyn wouldn't want to come with her to retire to the countryside. It was a lot, asking someone to go from thrilling adventure to taking care of animals and living with her parents. Vaelyn followed her without question.
It turned out the routine of taking care of animals was something she was quite good at. Everything else? They were both adjusting.

Summary
The Shadow-cursed lands are very stressful. Ever since they first started navigating the land that her Lady blessed, Shadowheart felt like she was walking on a knife’s edge. Everything she’s wanted is so close, and yet the darkness makes her wonder if it’s worth what she’ll be giving up.
Vaelyn feels closer to answers than she ever has before. Moonrise Towers holds parts of her past that still remain shrouded to her. But she doesn’t know if she’ll be able to handle what might be revealed to her.
That is not her only problem. Things have been rocky between Vaelyn and Shadowheart ever since the Underdark. She feels like she can’t get anything right. That doesn’t get any clearer as they approach the Absolute’s stronghold for the first time.

Shadowheart was mad for about an hour. And then she was just mad at herself for not running after Vaelyn for the rest of the night. It had been hours since they met with Gortash and he revealed the truth about her past.Vaelyn ran off immediately.
Everyone reacted differently. Karlach was the most righteously pissed out of all of them. Shadowheart couldn’t exactly blame her for that. Wyll was also pissed, but his attention was more focused on his father.

“You— hah, missed the best part,” Zagreus wheezed, a breathy laugh escaping him. “I… must have put on quite the show, I’d say.”
Thanatos’ hand brushed the side of his face, and Zagreus leaned into the touch. Warm, he noted, with some surprise. Thanatos was never warm. “I’m here now.” He took Zagreus’ hand in his, lacing their fingers together firmly. “I’m right here.”
Zagreus was used to dying— hard not to be, with the frequency he did it. He’d even go so far as to say he had mastered the art.
Usually, by now, the Styx would have swallowed him, bearing his body back home; yet this time, Zagreus knew he wouldn’t be so lucky. For whatever reason, it seemed he would be getting the full, unabridged experience of a mortal death. How fortunate he was.

After several minutes of feverish kisses, Achilles breaks them apart, pulling away from Zagreus just enough so that he can murmur the words quietly against his lips:
