Summary
Kaveh returns to occupying himself with the view, lips still locked on the cigarette, unwilling to put it to rest. The soft puffs are all that remain of their one-on-one. In their repose, Alhaitham fixates on his face once more. He blinks up at Kaveh, whose silhouette outshines the stars behind him. Alhaitham cannot help but hope, as he has done on numerous occasions, that he will offer him a look, one as when he was young and free, the one with all of his radiance and clumsiness.

Summary
"Well, then you're acquainted with the joys of alcohol," Kaveh exclaimed, forcing a chuckle out of his mouth.
"Joys?" Alhaitham deadpanned, making an adorable sound of discontent. "It was shit the first time. This time it's okay, because you're here."
Or: Alhaitham gets drunk and becomes uncharacteristically talkative.

Summary
“What can I get for you?” he asked, monotone and blasé as always.
She scrunched up her face in thought. Then her eyes lit up, and she said, “Black coffee!” Then she paused, her eyebrows creasing and her tongue darting out. Then she lit up again and added, “Pretty please. Baba says I should say that when I ask for something.”
Alhaitham doubted her Baba would be pleased if he found out he gave her black coffee, regardless of how she asked for it. But instead of saying no and making her cry, as kids so often did, he said, “That’ll be five mora.”
A young girl wanders into the coffee shop Alhaitham works at. And strangely enough, she keeps coming back.

Summary
When the two of them were younger and hadn’t yet learned what cruel weapons their words could be, Alhaitham had revealed his true form to Kaveh.
He still remembers his former friend’s gasp of surprise, the way Kaveh held out his now-gigantic hands so carefully for Alhaitham to walk onto. He had bared his entire being in the palm of his best friend’s hand and trusted that Kaveh wouldn’t hurt him.
And then Kaveh had torn their thesis apart and declared he regretted ever befriending Alhaitham, and it was no longer safe for him to know Alhaitham’s secret. The rules of the pari were strict; their identities were a secret that could only be revealed to the closest of friends, and Kaveh had made it clear that was not how he saw Alhaitham.
Alhaitham is a fae - a pari - and has done a very good job of keeping that a secret from Kaveh since their fallout forced him to seal away his memories. But when his magic fails and Kaveh finds out once more, he finds himself forced both to rely on his roommate's help and confront their complicated past.
