“They rode through the sleeping fields, the stillness broken only by the slow, rhythmic clop of Pebbles’ hooves on the hard dirt track. The sky at the horizon began to shift—a dull, bruised gray giving way to a fragile glimmer of gold, then orange, spilling like fire across the land.
The hush of early dawn began to vanish beneath a rising chorus—birdsong threading through the trees, the throaty rhythm of frogs in the meadows, and the dry, hollow clatter of storks tapping their beaks as they hunted their pray in the wet grass.
A herd of roe deer lifted their heads from where they were grazing on the fields, black beady eyes following the figure on horseback. Their ears flicked lazily.
They could sense it—he was no danger. Just a broken man draped in metal, held together by will and habit. They resumed their grazing, unconcerned.As they left the forest, the landscape opened up around them. The first fields around Horsham sprawled gently toward the valley. Down in the village, the first rooster’s cry sounded through the quiet, followed by the slow, lazy barking of dogs rousing from sleep.”

Makes you want to forget who you really are sometimes even." His heart was suddenly pounding. He glanced at Sam nervously. Sam was watching him closely.
"You know who you are sir, you've no need for me to go telling you," he said matter-of-factly. Frodo shook his head.
"No, that's just it. I need you and Merry and Pippin to remind me of what I am, don't you see?" he asked, and saw clearly that Sam didn't see.

Summary
The months since inheriting his power had done little to acclimatise Armin—to acclimatise anyone—to the fact of it. Even now, just considering those things together (Armin; the Colossus; Armin shifting into the Colossus) was enough to make Eren’s own thoughts falter. Two concepts so opposed in his mind that to relate them felt absurd. As often as it had come up in briefings, it had always been discussed in such abstract terms that it was hard to believe Armin had that power, that weapon, sleeping within his skin.
(The initial experiments with Armin's Colossus don't go smoothly, but Eren tries his best to soften the blow.)
