Xue Yang will not be left out of this little love triangle. Wait, what is he thinking? There is no love triangle. Sure, he wouldn't say no to hooking up with Xingchen if it actually came to it, seeing him at his place of work or not. But he's got no interest in Song Lan anymore. When the 3 a.m. knock sounds on her apartment door, Wen Qing assumes one of two things: it’s Wei Wuxian or it’s someone that has been drawn into the orbit of his personal chaos and they’re knocking on his behalf. A quick glance through the eyehole validates her latter assumption; Wei Wuxian is nowhere in sight, but the blurry visage of Jiang Yanli, his adoptive sister, is staring back at her, wide-eyed and fragile in the pre-dawn mist.
Wen Qing opens the door. “What has Wei Wuxian done now?”
Yanli stutters out, “N-nothing, he’s fine,” and then immediately bursts into tears.

"Xingchen got held up at work, but he said you have an important appointment at 3pm. He asked me to take you. Ready to go?"
Xue Yang sneers. "Do I look like I'm ready for any appointment?"
Song Lan feels a coil of red-hot anger spread in his chest. That's what he gets for being a chump, for wanting to be selfless and for believing that Xue Yang cares about this relationship between all three of them. This whole "appointment" was probably just some plot to get Xingchen's attention.
Song Lan agrees to take Xue Yang to his dentist's appointment. It might just change their relationship.
