“Ectoplasm switched to teaching all of the Hero Ethics courses after Whirlpool left. He isn’t teaching Quirk Analysis this semester until they get a replacement,” Ashido told him in an exaggerated whisper,
“Shit,” he groaned. More than a few of the teachers at UA didn’t like him due to his bad attitude in first year, and he hadn’t wanted to risk having one of them for a class he was already going to struggle with. “Who is it, then?”
“That’s the thing,” Ashido said giddily, “they have a new teacher this year. He’s our age.”
“Our age?” Katsuki asked, “You mean he’s on the younger side?”
“No, literally our age. Like, eighteen. One of those kid geniuses from I-Island,” Ashido told him, “he’s about to graduate college, and his final project is teaching a semester at UA. That’s why all of the teachers have been talking to him all day, to prepare him for working with us.”
“A student, huh?” Katsuki mused quietly. Not necessarily a bad thing for him.

When Katsuki is forced to take his worst subject as a final credit at UA, all he had hoped was that the new teacher would take mercy on him. How was he meant to know that Izuku had been so studious after leaving Aldera?

Summary
Katsuki has always been great at almost anything he does but it turns out, dealing with rejection isn't one of those things.
The rejected offer to join his agency is one thing. But finding out the same night that the person who is most special to him might does not see him the same way? Well, the only way he can think of dealing with that is to throw himself head-first into his hero career and avoid Izuku until he has gotten his shit together and moved on.
Well, of course some stupid villain has to fuck up those plans for him.
OR: Following Izuku's rejection, Katsuki works himself ragged to avoid thinking about Izuku to the point of barely sleeping or resting in between patrols. It takes him almost dying trying to save a little girl for him and Izuku to finally talk about exactly how special they are to each other.

At some point, Izuku had to stop. Unable to help himself, his fingers loosened around the washcloth and his palm came to rest flat over Katsuki’s chest, right over his heart.
Thump Thump Thump, Katsuki's heart fluttered miraculously beneath his touch. It was a second chance Izuku didn’t deserve. His thumb hovered at the edge of his scar, where his pale, smooth, perfect skin gave way where evil had mercilessly shredded through. Before and after, separated by such an easy line.
He swallowed hard, his throat tightening around a cry, trying to ground himself in the fact that Katsuki was here, alive, that none of those scars had taken his Kacchan away from him. They only created new patterns on the beautiful body that Izuku would wash clean.
