Summary
"May made a comment that stuck with Bobby so much that he told me about it. And then it stuck with me too.”
Buck blinks up at her, curious to hear it but also afraid of what May could have said that was powerful enough to leave a permanent impression with Bobby and Athena all these years later.
“What did she say?” He asks warily. May is so much like her mother. Strong, independent, and never afraid to say what’s on her mind.
“She said, ‘Mom brought two kids into the marriage, you brought one.' And I couldn’t agree more.” Athena says, leaning over and placing her other hand on top of his. Buck blinks over and over to try to stop the flow of tears, but it’s useless; he’s been leaking like a fucking faucet for days now.
Or: Just a mother and son moment between Buck and Athena

Summary
The guy cradles Christopher as gently as Eddie thinks anyone could, and says, “What’s his name?”
“Christopher,” Eddie says, around a lump that’s suddenly appeared in his throat. He turns away, then, ducks down to dig through his backpack so that he won’t do something insane and embarrassing like snatch his baby back immediately after handing him over.
Eddie hears the guy say, “Hi, Christopher. I’m Buck. I like your outfit. Dinosaurs are very cool.”

Summary
“Don’t look, Buck, but I think you might have some competition.” Chim sounds way too amused for his own good.
Buck’s eyes settled onto the naked, beautiful, toned torso of a man. Buck is really good at schooling his face until his eyes slide up to the new recruit’s face and suddenly the jealousy and tension fades away.
“Diaz!?” Buck’s already walking towards the locker room when Eddie looks up. The shocked surprise on his face is evident. And, well.

Buck and Eddie met in basic training. Buck hasn't seen Eddie since the day he left the army, but he's never forgotten him.

Summary
Buck doesn’t think that if he were to say, “I’m in a bad place”, that anyone would turn him away. Really, he doesn’t. The 118 has too many good, kind people for that.
But every time he wants to open his mouth, to say something, to reach out to Eddie or Bobby or Hen or Chim, he hears Eddie yelling, “you’re exhausting.”
—you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting, you’re exhausting—
So each day he does his job and he laughs and he jokes and he pretends he’s the care-free goofball he’s always been. And each day he packs away his bruises and his worries, takes them home to his empty loft with its quiet rooms, and licks his wounds in silence.
