Summary
The night of the argument after Ray had threatened Lucy and Tamara, Tim and Lucy break up and she adapts the bad habit of drinking to cope with things. That night Chris is the one helping drunk Lucy get to her apartment, putting her in an uncomfortable position and hurting her. Afterwards, Lucy can't bear the thought of being around Tim all day at the station, so she takes the first undercover assignment that comes her way no matter how dangerous or deep it might be to take her mind off things. She knows she is not in the right headspace, because of her coping mechanism but ignores it and is gone, for who knows how long. Things go sideways when she isn't one hundred percent in the game.

Summary
This is a short post-Orison fic.
After the attack, Scully chooses to remain in her apartment. She is struggling with a profound sense of lost control in every sense of the word: Pfaster’s intrusion, the physical restraint, and even the act of killing him, which leaves her feeling displaced from her own agency. Leaving the apartment feels, to her, like an acknowledgment that Pfaster still holds a presence there, in the space that should be hers.
Mulder, in turn, decides that if she stays, he will stay with her.
That night, Scully attempts to reclaim control in a way that ultimately leaves her feeling even more hollow. In the aftermath, Mulder helps her begin to understand what control actually is, and what it is not.

Two chapters, two different stories, about different victims of drug-induced psychosis. They don't mean to come in contact with the chemicals, but they do on varying cases, and the consequences of that are difficult to deal with.
In Chapter 1, Lucy has arrived at a property where Tim is suffering at the hands of his own demons, thanks to being exposed to some mystery drug during an arrest:
Lucy’s heart clenches painfully in her chest. She’s never seen him like this before, with an expression that is somewhere between panic and aggression, the kind of raw, unfocused fear that unsettles her to the core. He looks like a man cornered by invisible demons, fighting a battle only he can see.In Chapter 2, Tim is called to help coax Lucy from inside a bathroom where she has locked herself inside as she struggles to breathe or make sense of the world:

Her nightmares, while they weren't as frequent as they used to be, were still hanging over her head like a rain cloud, but every time that she woke up, gasping for air, scratching at her throat, desperately seeking something, someone, to show her that she wasn't with Caleb, he'd been there. Tim was there to hold her, whisper to her that she was safe, that he'd gotten to her in time.
But now, all of a sudden, Tim wasn't there anymore. He wasn't there to hold her while she woke up, to calm her and piece her back together again after she broke.
(Or Lucy's night terrors get worse after the breakup, and one night she accidentally calls Tim.)
