Summary
“You’ve lost weight,” are the first words Reo says to him, a whole year since Seishiro has breathed the same air as him.
“That’s not very nice.” Seishiro’s mouth is on auto-pilot, brain still processing the sight of Reo right in front of him.
There’s Mikage Reo, synonymous with all that’s good in this world, at least to Seishiro. He looks different; his hair is longer and he’s much warier.
(He looks exactly how Seishiro remembers him.)
Or: Somehow, Seishiro gets Hanahaki, a year since he’s seen the only boy he’s ever loved. He handles it extremely well, which is to say, not at all.

These feelings are anything but pleasant. Seishiro would happily take another coughing fit over this.
(A darker, unspoken part of Seishiro loves it. He’s definitely in double digits now.)
Chigiri’s affirmation is a relief. Seishiro is capable of loving, then, just like the characters in Reo’s favorite movies, just like his friends and teammates, just like his parents, just like his neighbors. Just like a human being.
Seishiro knows he’s human, alive and breathing, because he loves Reo.

But now, here, there’s no reputation, no preconceived notions. He’s just Eddie. Eddie with the thousand-watt smile, Eddie with the long brown hair and the biggest, darkest eyes. Eddie who talks not only with his hands but with his whole body, who imbues so much energy into whatever space he occupies. It makes total sense, here and now, that he’s getting so much attention. He’s magnetic, and even Steve is having trouble looking away.

The words surprise Steve just as much as they do Eddie. He wants to take them back, to pluck them right out of the air between them. To hold them close to his chest until he can think about them, can weigh them in his mind and test the shape of them around his tongue. But it’s too late. Being an act first, think later kind of guy is basically his specialty at this point.

There are two important things that Kuroo gathers very quickly. One, his neighbor is cute, in a slender, nerdy, oblivious kind of way. And two, he looks to be only seconds away from murdering Kuroo in cold blood. '

Tsukishima closes his eyes. He breathes out slowly and carefully, and then he smiles. Hugely, beautifully, with his eyes still closed and both his hands on Kuroo’s face. “Fucking idiot,” he says.
