Summary
The gate has been closed, Vecna defeated, and everything's looking up for the residents of Hawkins. Life is just starting to go back to normal (whatever that is) when strangers start appearing out of thin air. Quite literally falling from the sky in flashes of blue light.
Because of course the town can't go a year without something supernatural happening.
The Hargreeves have finally got a way out of the 60's, and are more than ready to return to a timeline where there's no impending doomsday breathing down their necks. Instead of landing back at the academy in the present day, they find themselves once again separated, this time in 1986.
Because of course they can't ever have a successful jump through time.

Summary
The Handler is too preoccupied crowing over Five as he struggles to breath to notice Klaus stirring in the corner.
Klaus is too preoccupied watching an assortment of bullets work their way out of his chest to notice the final gunshot until it's too late.
OR
Waking up after the Handler murders his entire family isn't on Klaus' bingo card, but then again neither was half of the shit he'd been through in the past few years. Armed with nothing but one of the Commission's stray briefcases and his newfound ability to bounce back from death (who would've guessed), he finds himself back in their original timeline burdened with the knowledge of what's to come and a collection of siblings who refuse to listen to him.

Peter died while on patrol, he understands that much.
He knows he did, because he remembers lying on the ground bleeding out. He remembers his eyes closing, and the sound of his pulse fizzling to a stop.
What he doesn't understand, is how he opens his eyes the next day. He doesn't understand how he can get up and walk around, seeing as his heart still hasn't restarted.
