She hated the idea that she was “recovering”. She hated that she felt so awful while everything else about her situation made it seem like she was getting better.

Wednesday moves her hand from the back of Enid’s head to her cheek, making it obvious that if Enid doesn’t want this, she’ll pull away. But when Enid immediately melts in her touch, eyes fluttering shut, Wednesday feels. She feels anger, because how dare Enid’s mother do this to her.
She wants to say that. She wants to say it all. She wants to go and storm over to the Sinclair home and yell at them until they understand how perfect their daughter is.

Most of all, she knows Barbara is scarily maternal, and scarily similar to her mother.

"Stop that," Wednesday says, leaning forward to pluck the lit cigarette from Enid's mouth. She flicks it perfectly, pristinely, into the nearest wastebin. "There are better things to do with your mouth."
"That's a fire hazard!" Enid objects, too quickly, too nervously, as something in her chest tugs. Seeing this taken from her, too.
And then, what Wednesday just said properly hits her. "Wait, what?"
