He sets the glass down, only to realize with a jolt that he had aligned his mouth perfectly with the phantom print of Chenle’s. A cold spike of adrenaline shoots through him at the realization.
He isn’t sure if it was a subconscious pull toward the forbidden or a total collapse of his single-minded focus, but the realization leaves him breathless.

Familiar as ever, Chenle’s laughter rings throughout the air, accompanied by a squeakier, higher pitched laugh. Jisung picks up the now-dented can of soup and drops it in his cart. He turns, ready to give Chenle a piece of his mind—assuming he’s actually there—for scaring him so bad, but the words die in his throat when he spots the child in Chenle’s arms.
“Hey,” Chenle says. He adjusts the girl—older than a toddler, five, maybe?—on his hip and smiles at Jisung.

“Well, I wrote you my own history books you can indulge in. I’m not going to say they’re high quality, but they’re personal.”
Haechan’s heart fluttered. Mark did that just for him, wrote down hundreds of years of information for this moment. “I know you’re curious, so it only made sense.” Mark continued.
Haechan felt like he was about to cry from the thoughtfulness and effort. “You didn’t have to.” He muttered quietly, not able to maintain eye contact any longer.

So you could imagine the surprise Tsukishima felt when he slammed his door open, only to find a teary-eyed Yamaguchi Tadashi, someone he hadn’t spoken to in so long he couldn’t remember the last time he did.
But nonetheless, Yamaguchi Tadashi was standing there.
"Can I stay here tonight?" Yamaguchi hiccupped in the smallest voice.
Tsukishima simply stepped aside to let him in. And when Yamaguchi brushed past him and he noticed he was barely holding it together, Tsukishima blocked his path and pulled him close. Yamaguchi didn’t hesitate, he buried his face in Tsukishima’s chest.
"I should’ve called, I…"
"Shut up Yamaguchi," Tsukishima whispered into his hair. Stripped of any resentment, the words stumbled out of his mouth more like a mantra, a soft but genuine attempt to remind him of who they once were.
Or, despite growing distant, Yamaguchi shows up one night at Tsukishima’s door, needing a place to stay. From that moment, Tsukishima believes that miracles do exist.Main story is now complete, but an epilogue will be added soon!
