    Eyes falling closed in contentment and determined to ignore the racing of his heart, Loki finds himself uncharacteristically thinking that he wouldn’t object to spending eternity in this moment.

    Of course, as it is reliably wont to happen every single time he has ever felt such contentment with his situation, it is immediately ruined for him. This time, it is Anthony who makes himself the culprit by continuing, “See? I knew you love me.”

    No.

    His racing heart becomes an uncomfortable flutter, the twitching of a frightened bird, its claws catching in the inside of his ribcage, leaving stinging scratches in his lungs as acidic panic rises within him.

    Anthony doesn’t know, he cannot know.

    AKA Tony's drunk, Loki's pining, (in)convenient realisations are had.

    Loki’s fingers, pale, thin things with the nails chewed off, dig into the flesh of his own palm. It’s hard to reconcile the Loki who killed eighty people in one day with the Loki that’s now sitting next to them, who’s trying to reduce the points of impact by holding himself tightly. It makes Tony wonder if maybe they were wrong about a few things.
