Mo Xuanyu sat on the hard bench in the principal’s office, focusing on taking one breath in, and one breath out, and watching the old-fashioned wall clock tick along. His brothers’ office was at least forty-five minutes from the school, so assuming they’d left right when the secretary had called them and there was no traffic, there was still another five minutes before he could reasonably expect one of them.

"Maybe we should just elope and you can bring me back home and keep me in the bedroom until Sunday," Jiang Cheng said, and moaned as Jin Zixuan pulled his head back.
"Sounds good," Jin Zixuan said, and kissed, but did not bite, down the exposed skin of Jiang Cheng's neck. "You tell my mom, I'll tell yours?"

“Let’s go,” Jin Zixuan said, and for some reason, steered Jiang Cheng into his own bedroom rather than Jiang Cheng’s. Was this what Mianmian would do? he wondered, as he half-carried Jiang Cheng to the ensuite and turned the shower on. She’d probably want Jiang Cheng to be comfortable, and Jin Zixuan’s bathroom was bigger and more luxurious and featured more gold trim and was therefore better. The honour of Jin Zixuan’s inner Mianmian was satisfied.
