An impending doom quickly but surely starts to taint the air as Vecna begins to slowly approach Will.
As Will sees Vecna approach him with an eerie expression on its face, he can't help but feel a sense a dejavu, reminding the teenager of the first time he was cursed and sent here. Back then, just before Vecna could do anything, Will heard his song, which helped him to free himself from Vecna's grip as he began to run with only one purpose on his mind. Will remembers how everything beneath him was so slippery, how terrified to his core he felt, how hopeless it seemed to get out. Finally Will remembers staring at the blue, as if mocking, sky, before his body suddenly dropped onto the ground, forcing him to let out a sound of pain. And just as he began to hyperventilate Mike instantly appeared by his side, wrapping his arms around the boy. Despite Will feeling so confused and yet terrified at that moment, he had... Mike, holding the boy in his arms, reassuring him into his ear, shakily muttering that he was back... alive.
What if it was Will in Volume 2, not Max, who got Vecnafied and Mike was with him instead of Lucas?

Shock powers a painful woosh of air through Kevin's gills. “...What?”, he mutters, as quiet as a mouse, rich in disbelief. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees a blue blob shift in similar panic.
And he hopes, prays, to the Gods he stopped truly believing in decades ago, that this is all a new, undiscovered side of Homelander’s humor. That his peeved expression will smooth into a smirk and he'll huff in derision. Typical Deep, he'd say, Too dim to catch a joke. Please, God, let Kevin just be truly too stupid, just this once.
But alas, God shows no mercy, and neither does Homelander. “I’m not kidding. Go over there, pull out A-Train’s cock, and blow him.”, he commands, voice eerily apathetic.
My take on that Deeptrain scene - but with a non-sexy, angst-driven focus. Takes place during S04E01.
