For 2 years, the house next door sat empty, and Gerard liked it that way. Quiet evenings, reasonable bedtimes, nobody on the other side of the shared wall in his little slice of heaven in Belleville.
Then Frank Iero moved in, some punk kid seemingly determined to make Gerard's life as difficult as possible, and that peace was destroyed. Gerard’s mouth twitched into a sly smile, eyes narrowing with mock challenge. “what’s that make you, then? my boss?” they looped their hand around the loosened knot of his tie, tugging him forward until his face hovered dangerously close to theirs.
Frank’s grin widened, his pulse kicking at the base of his throat. “we both know that’s not true.” his voice dropped to a rasp, every word trembling with the weight of it as he ducked in close, his breath brushing hot against the shell of their ear. “Mommy.”
the word fell out of him like it had been torn from someplace deep, someplace hidden. his chest tightened immediately, heat rushing up his neck as though saying it aloud had stripped him bare in the middle of the crowded bar. but Gerard’s sharp intake of breath, the way their lips parted just slightly, told him he hadn’t imagined the effect.

Gerard smiled faintly, brushing their thumb over the inside of his bound wrists, then down the line of his palm. “good. then stay just like that.”
they sat back a little, looking him over again. his knees were still pressed into the wood, his chest rising and falling faster now, his bound hands trembling slightly in his lap.
“you’re going to hold still,” they said, their tone dropping into something low and steady again. “you’re going to let me do what i want with you. and if you can stay like this,” their thumb grazed his lip again, “you’ll get exactly what you’re asking for.”
Frank nodded, the movement small and quick, like a heartbeat. “yes,” he whispered.
“good puppy,” Gerard breathed, their voice molten with approval. “now come closer.”
