Summary
The earliest memory Gwaine had, the one he held close to his chest, hung on a chain and glimmering gold, was that of his mother’s hands. He remembered them blushed and calloused with work, dirt under the nails from every odd job she kept to keep them afloat, but most of all he remembered how they felt pressed against his arm, his hand, his cheek.
__In which we follow Gwaine through Season 3 and then some, and watch as he navigates how to love once more, and how to ask for love in return. (Follows canon until about chapter 5ish, but lots of stuff in between too.)

Summary
Merlin opened his arms, only barely, only enough for Gwaine’s chest to collide with his, arms wrapping around Merlin’s quivering shoulders. Gwaine felt fists in his shirt and wet flesh against his neck, and for the first time Merlin felt unbelievably small. Merlin had always carried himself strongly, boldly, and despite his lack of training, Gwaine had never considered him defenseless or weak. But here, now, as the birds sang of the day to come, Gwaine felt as though he might snap Merlin in half if he held him too close.
And then Gwaine finally heard what the guards were saying.
Arthur – where was Arthur? Where was the King of Camelot, Merlin?
Gwaine wished the birds would stop singing.

Summary
A Modern day Merlin AU set at the University of St Andrews, featuring teetotal kickboxers, secret wizards, magnificent bodyguards of various genders, irate fairies, imprisoned dragons, crumbling gothic architecture, arrogant princes, adorable engineering students, stolen gold, magical doorways, attempted assassination, drunken students, shaving foam fights, embarrassing mornings after, The Hammer Dance, duty, responsibility, friendship and true love...
This story was inspired by the thought of Prince William of Wales (and indeed the current Max von Hapsburg) studying at the University of St Andrews; it is also, as the title suggests, at least a little inspired by the operetta 'The Student Prince'.

::2019 note: This story was written BEFORE the TV show introduced the character of Gwaine. It's not that I can't spell, or that I'm perversely writing him out of character - I incorporated other characters from Arthurian legend (Kay, Gawain etc) into my story, and lacking prophetic abilities, my versions naturally don't mesh with the versions subsequently introduced into the show.::

Summary
Everyone he trusted with his secret – Will, Freya, Balinor, Lancelot, and now Gaius – was gone. Arthur would never bring magic back to the land, and he would never let Merlin stand at his side the way Merlin had hoped he would. It was a cold awakening, years of baseless faith dashed against the fraying tapestry that destiny had made Merlin sew into his own skin, but an awakening nonetheless.
Merlin is shaken out of his obsession with destiny and his blind faith in Arthur. Arthur just wishes he knew how to get his closest friend back.

There's a lot of coffee, a lot of fixing cars, not enough talking, but quite a bit of love.

Summary
Quentin cuts off when his brain catches up to his rambling and drops his gaze self-consciously. Of all the times to over-share, Half A Drink Deep in Eliot Waugh's Kitchen might really be the worst he's ever managed. He takes another sip and raises his glass a little, fighting the urge to cringe. "And I'm a lightweight," he finishes, trying for a joking tone. "But you probably guessed that already."
He risks a glance up at Eliot to find the other boy looking back at him with a smile, but it's not mean or jeering like Quentin had expected, it’s… soft, almost. It throws him so much that he forgets to look away, even when Eliot reaches out to take the half-empty drink from his hand. "I won't say the thought hadn't crossed my mind," Eliot hums, swapping out Quentin's glass for his own full one.
or: Quentin falls asleep at a house party and wakes up in Eliot's lap, to his horror (and Eliot's endearment), but at least it’s a hell of a conversation starter.

"I don't think you understand," Merlin said as he started walking backwards, brows wrinkled in confusion. "I can rip your throat out with my teeth and drink your blood. Does that not bother you?" He asked. Arthur finally glanced up from the papers in his hand to look at him, pausing his steps altogether. Merlin waited.
"...Merlin, you fell over trying to put boots on." He said. Merlin grimaced, looking down at his feet.
"I hadn't realized you were supposed to wear them all the time." He muttered, uncertain what this had to do with the fact he could murder everyone within a ten mile radius. Arthur sighed. "And those are bold words from someone who can't dress himself!" He added indignantly. Another sigh. Humans did that a lot as it turned out.
"Merlin, that's your job."
"And I've taught you several times. It isn't that hard."
"No, I - " Arthur started and closed his eyes. "I don't have time for this."
Or
After living with demons for sixteen years, Merlin decides to explore his human side by venturing to Camelot. Also, he has a destiny to unite his species and bring magic back into Camelot, but he's not too worried about that.
