Peter's voice whittles down to a high pitched whistle, forgetting that he needs to breathe to continue creating more sound.
After a few more agonizing seconds during which Peter weighs the possibilities that he just gave his mentor and the savior of the world a heart attack, Mr. Stark looks up at him, eyes suddenly wide.
A beat passes.
"What's your teacher's name again?"
AKA, Ryland Grace and Tony Stark hooked up in college. This is fine, until 20 years later, Peter Parker gets involved. It's all downhill from there.

Summary
Stepping up on his toes, Maverick throws the scarf around the back of Ice’s neck, wrapping it snugly around and making sure the ends are even on both sides of Ice’s chest. Mav’s hands briefly brush over Ice’s jawline, and they’re so warm it makes him dizzy.
To make matters worse, Maverick then shucks off his bomber jacket, throwing it over Ice’s shoulders and bringing it close to his chest. The inside of the jacket is toasty, and it smells like Mav.
“Are you sure?” Is all Ice can say.
Mav smiles up at him, the snow decorating his dark hair like glitter. “Of course. It looks good on you anyways.” He says, with an indecipherable wink.
AKA, Ice and Mav get caught in a blizzard on their way to Slider's for Christmas. Ice tries to deal with his feelings for Mav while trying not to freeze to death.

He appreciates Maverick’s outfit in a completely straight and normal way. Taking the spot next to the other man, he takes care to plant his feet in a completely natural and normal manner.
“Maverick, thank you for extending the invite.” He says, like he rehearsed it fifteen times in the rearview mirror before leaving his car. “It’s good to see you.”
AKA, Maverick invites Cyclone to a night out at the Hard Deck. Cyclone is entirely normal about it.

Well, I say "her hand," but maybe it's his hand. Or some other pronoun I don't have a word for. They might have seventeen biological sexes, for all I know. Or none. No one ever talks about the really hard parts of first contact with intelligent alien life: pronouns. I'm going to go with "she" for now, because it just seems rude to call a thinking being "it".
[what if you wake up in space and for the first time in your life you're free from the gender panopticon so you assign your new alien best friend the objectively best gendered pronouns. which are not your pronouns. and then your new alien best friend asks hey, what's up with that?]

Grace roughly knows that March is a widower, because Holly confided in him once—albeit vaguely—but he managed to extract a brief summary of what happened. A tragic accident, a fire that burned down the March family's home, a mother who passed away, and a father who wallowed in guilt and grief. Grace has never known Mrs. March, because she’d passed away before Holly became his student. The seat next to Mr. March during Parent-Teacher Conferences was always empty.
Now it's occupied by a Mr. Healy.
His brain clicks. Oh. Grace briefly entertains the idea of congratulating the new (?) couple.
or: holly march is one of mr. ryland grace's students. parent-teacher conferences with holland march are just awful—until a jackson healy appears.
