Silence. She can’t handle the tension - she hates how much silence Xena leaves between them, and she knows that Xena won’t say no. If she really asks, Xena won’t say no.
So she looks into Xena’s eyes again, her vision slightly blurry from sleep and crying. “Touch me.”
Xena stays silent for a long time, but she holds Gabrielle’s gaze, so Gabrielle waits. Then Xena takes a deep breath and says, “You don’t know what you’re asking, Gabrielle.”
