And so, day in and day out, Wilbur held the kitten close to him, through day and through night, letting a happy sunshine ball curl into him while he slept and played with him during the mornings, tossing papers up into the air and waiting for it to be hit back and forth.
Things were getting better, because for the first time in a while, Wilbur felt like it would all be okay.

Summary
“The miracle,” the hand on his neck moved, and the voice speaking was quiet, hushed into shards of glass that could shatter on any touch. Cold fingers brushed along Wilbur’s cheek, a palm cooling down the heat from crying. The boy leaned into it, “is you.”
Shutting his eyes, Wilbur felt the tears begin to bloom once more, only this time a thumb was there to brush it away.
Or, Wilbur Soot is nine and his mother is on her deathbed.

Wilbur’s eyes narrowed, and his gaze never fell away from the reflection of the moon. Directly below the bridge, a shadow was cast, and Wilbur could see the darkened figures of their bodies.

Summary
Tommy always felt as though Wilbur would be able to tell him anything, so he let his older brother come to him first whenever he felt down or overwhelmed. A shared feeling.
It was always easy to speak to his brother, it was always easy to watch as calloused fingertips found their way along strings tied through different ends of a wooden guitar.
It was always easy to tuck himself between cold arms that cooled his body down whenever he felt overwhelmed, placing ice along ashes that glistened in the night as it found its home among flames that built up into the sky.
...But what if the feeling wasn't shared?

Wilbur is struggling, Tommy doesn't want to make things worse.

Summary
Growing up in the corporate building for heroes, Tommy learned all he needed to know about battling from his mentor– Dream –all while building up his powers by healing those who get hurt in battle. Though it’s only a matter of time until he disobeys the rules set for him and goes out to meet people, which ends up being the worst choice of his life-or best, he can't tell.

Tommy is a training healer for some of the top heroes but doesn’t know if the lifestyle suits him.

Summary
For the first time that night, Ghostbur almost willed himself to speak, he wanted to know everything about Tommy; the good, the bad, the sadness, the happiness, everything. He wanted to feel like he knew Tommy, knew him in a way he didn't.
Before he could open his mouth to speak, a soft baa sounded from beside him, Ghostbur turned his head, then gazed at Friend for a few seconds before moving his hand and gently patting the head of the sheep, his spirit immediately feeling lifted.
Everything felt easier in situations like this, like his mind was being wiped of any sour thoughts that were sent his way. He cherished it, holding it close to his indented heart.
OR,
Ghostbur and Tommy go stargazing after Tommy gets revived and leaves the prison, but as they watch the stars, Ghostbur comes to terms with the reality around him.

Summary
The feathers reminded him of a childhood he had pushed away, a childhood he had left behind. A childhood filled with laughter from his little brother. But Tommy wasn’t his brother, Tommy never was. He never will be.
His mind yelled at him, because, at one point, Tommy was his brother. Tommy was the little brother the man once wanted, just so he could swear he'd never let anything hurt Tommy. But he broke his own promise, the promise he had once held close to his heart until everything was crashing down.
Or,
When Wilbur apologized to Tommy, it wasn't sincere. So, he takes his last moment on the SMP to write him a letter, one that explains his apologies.
