Summary
[set sometime in the middle of the animated Under the Red Hood movie]
Jason hadn’t gone back to Mass after he lost his ma, and he’d been avoiding the cathedral since he’d…come back. (He bit his cheek to let the blood wash the black bitterness of grave dirt off his tongue.) He’d seen it, of course – you couldn’t not see the spires from anywhere in the Alley. It was different, though, standing on the worn limestone steps leading up to the heavy oak of her doors.
Jason met Mother Maria, the pastor of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Heart of Our Lady of Perpetual Mercy (most people just called it Mercy), one of the oldest cathedrals in Gotham and certainly the oldest surviving building in Crime Alley. She welcomed him into the hallowed space.
Jason stood between the pews and felt the weight of every shot he’d ever taken in the gazes of the statues on his back, the holy water on his fingers slick like cooling blood.

Summary
Cougar coughs around a fresh mouthful of blood. He breathes, “Vaya con Dios, angelitos,” thinking of the smiling faces looking up to him, the trust in their eyes, the way their bodies smelled as they burned.
He brings the wires together.
He feels electricity arc into his hands, a quick spark of pain.
He doesn’t feel the blast.
He dies instantly, a smile on his face, a stone in his gut.
...
..
.
He wakes, and he sees eternity stretching out impossibly around him.(Mind the tags. This gets far, far worse before it starts getting better.)

Summary
CT-7425 hadn’t yet picked a name, but they wished they had. Having all of their vod’e have to refer to them by number felt wrong, now that names flew fast and loud across the hangar. They’d thought over dozens of names in their bunk at night, but none of them every felt right.
A name wasn’t something you jumped into.CT-7425 had a feeling that by the end of this campaign, they would have one.

Summary
He looked into the mirror he’d managed to scrounge as a cadet and carried with him ever since, just large enough to see his whole head in the expanse. He could barely see the two Paths he’d been shaping into his hair now, all of it overgrown and curling into the rest of the hair on his head. The red dye he worked into the short hair when he’d last cut it had faded enough that the design was almost unrecognizable against his dark roots.
He picked up the first guard and set to shaving the whole mess down to his preferred length – long enough to be visible, but short enough to prevent matting under his helmet. The Paths vanished more and more under each swipe of his hand and he breathed in, out.
He remembered, he repeated to himself. This is only the in-between, the allowing of the remembrance to shift over time.

Or, Gree needs a haircut, and offers to let Barriss help. They get to talking about traditions, mourning, and how the vode see both.

Summary
Commissioner James Gordon greets Hotch with a grim handshake. ‘Grim’ seems an apt descriptor for anything to do with Gotham City—its crime rate, its air quality index, and its citizens. The Commissioner embodies the word. There are tight wrinkles by his eyes and dour lines around his mouth. Strong swathes of grey cut through his hair.
“I would welcome you,” he says, eyes flinty, “but my boys don’t want you here, and frankly, I doubt you’re prepared for what you’re about to get into. None of you ever are.”

Summary
All that is to say, the kid had many, many different things surrounding his situation and general state of being. Things that made the fact that Danny had come from a different goddamned dimension far too easy to put on the back burner. It was just another thing about the kid, Danny had only ever explicitly mentioned it that first meeting after all, and no one had really touched on it since.
Which of course meant it had to get brought up in the stupidest way possible.

Summary
Danny’s just trying to do his thing, live his (after)life, and get his paycheck working at the crappy Walgreens in Gotham. Does Red Hood's aura remind him of something he’d rather not think about, yes. Is he going to ask the guy about it… to be determined, or not since the vigilante decides to pull an UNO reverse card on him and starts asking Danny a bunch of questions instead of the other way around. Danny hates his luck.
Jason was just trying to look out for the kid, he didn’t ask for the existential crisis, the uncovering of a government plot, or the possibility of curing the pit madness. Ok, he does like the sound of that last one, but the other two he could do without.
Dick is just very confused moral support, who’s moral support? Your guess is as good as his.
Tim just wants to enjoy his coffee in peace.

Summary
“I will drive,” Damian announces.
“No.” Jason grabs him by the scruff of his robes before he can squirm away. “Tim’s driving.”
Damian whirls, eyes bright. “I am perfectly capable-”
“Yes, Damian, you are, but you’re also too short to reach the pedals.”
Jason’s honestly surprised he doesn’t get a knife in the gut for that. Tim is wise enough to keep his mouth shut.Wise - Jason decides firmly - but also breathtakingly stupid, because he takes two steps away from the truck and almost falls flat on his face when his injured leg gives out.
Jason catches him, right in time for him to say, “Right. Stab wound. Forgot about that.”Jason sighs, casts his gaze to the sky, and mentally apologizes to Bruce. He’s herding cats here. He and Dick weren’t this bad, were they?
(They were, he knows they were, which just makes this whole fiasco even more annoying.)
