Cassie screws her eyes shut, fighting through to join the distraction. “Fucking idiot set his deck, and then his house, on fire. It was over a hundred degrees out there, and this guy decides to grill? I was getting the dog.”
Dana goes back to the stitches, and the questions. “You got the dog? Why, Mr July, I underestimated you.”
Cassie laughs, or maybe sobs. Cassie laughs or sobs.
“Yeah, I got the dog. Got this trophy too. Aren’t I lucky?”
Dana laughs at that, glancing up to look at Cassie. “I’d say I’m pretty lucky, actually. A strapping young firefighter lands in my ER and demands I stick them back together? My, my, what a lucky day.”

Summary
It's been two days since the absolute nightmare that was the fourth of July shift and Trinity Santos is exhausted. The emotional juggling she’s been doing these past two days have her emotionally exhausted. Sadly her shift on July 7th so far has only added to her physical exhaustion making her desperate to be finished with her shift. The E.D., however, was about to prove to her that things could absolutely get worse when a patient attacks her and makes into another patient for her coworkers to treat.
or a Garsantos hurt fic that turned into a little bit of a character analysis of Trinity Santos through the eyes of some of her coworkers.

Trinity was doing better, until her mom shows up in the ED one day after years of no contact. She makes snide comments to Trinity in front of her co-workers on how she lives her life and it sends her spiralling, undoing some of her progress. Sometimes she thinks that maybe her mother was right.
