Summary
All of Mel's boyfriends.
Mel would never presume that Frank Langdon is boyfriend material.
Those were the words Princess had used once—though in a very different tone, after she’d stared a little too long at the new radiologist who’d come down for a consult.
“What about me?” Frank had said, winking at her like a dog begging for a treat.
It had made Mel feel inexplicably sad.
Set some time after season two.

Summary
Tessa is six and Scott is eight when they first meet. That’s the part of the story that has come to her through other people’s oral history: Alma and Carol and Danny and Jordan and her mom’s endless friendly arguments over who had the idea first, who could see the potential even back then, who knew this would work out just great, how cute they were, how tiny, how charming. There are home videos and photos of course, filling the Moir’s basement and her mom’s scrapbooks, but Tessa more remembers hearing about it all than she actually remembers, the beginnings of Tessa-and-Scott having become family lore among the Virtue and Moir clans.
Tessa and Scott and the time it takes them to see things through.

Summary
“I’m Cassie. Luke’s wife,” she tells one of his dad’s cousins, Aunt Marjorie.
Wife. The word hits him like a jolt. He wants to hear it again, and again, wants to draw it from her lips in every iteration.Luke and Cassie and the risk of fully knowing a person.
This is canonically in the same universe as my other Purple Hearts fic, like you'd get your knuckles bloody for me, which I'd suggest you read first. The court martial never happens and Luke and Cassie have to figure it out for themselves.Series

Summary
While they are treating him, first at the FOB, when he’s being airlifted out, then at the base in Germany, he is drifting in and out of consciousness, thanks to the trauma and the copious amounts of anesthesia. There are sure and steady hands on his body, those of strangers probably, but she comes to him in his drug-fogged sleep, the way he saw her fully for the first time: her wedding dress pooling at her feet, open and soft – yielding to him. The way she felt under his hands, his body.
He cannot die yet when there’s life like this to be lived. When he might yet feel like that again.
Luke never makes that spontaneous confession in the court room. Mash-up of book and movie canon, inspired by the amazing "Fire In My Bones" by Amethyzt, who had the genius idea of the court martial never happening and Luke and Cassie having to figure it out themselves. This story is not in that universe, but in the same spirit. (Go read it, I consider all of the interactions she wrote between Luke and Cassie's mom canon). I also needed more of Luke's journey from a problematic guy to someone worthy of Cassie's love.

Summary
“I always thought I’d be at least 16,” Scott says. There’s a pause while they both watch Buffy impale a vampire. “But that was when I was, like, nine. Now I think maybe I’ll be older.”
5 times Tessa and Scott have a conversation about sex and one time they don't. Sort of. Various scenes from their childhood and teenage years.

Summary
Dr. Mel King has always been good for testing Frank Langdon’s self-restraint, so it figures she should be here now, standing at the foot of his bed in street clothes while he fights his way through a withdrawal sweat.
“It’s important that you know you’re not alone in this,” Mel says, fingers tented together in front of her chest. Her glasses are reflecting the clutter of his shitty rented bachelor pad, which she’s charitably pretending is very nice. He wasn’t expecting company. He wasn’t expecting to fall down a flight of train station stairs like an idiot. He wasn’t expecting to be transported to a Franklin Park hospital and shot up with fentanyl before he could climb out of concussion dreamland and stop them.
OR: Frank detoxes (again) and heals a broken leg. Mel helps. Frank learns a lot about self-restraint and a little about abandoning it for a worthy cause.

Bookmarker's Notes
Scumbag sad divorced Langdon gets hurt and is accidentally relapsed (I know, I know, bear with me). Mel takes care of him. He smells of desperation and yearning and she's loving but stern with him.

Summary
Langdon was leaning back on his elbows, long legs stretched out, fiddling absently with something at the base of his throat. It took her a moment to realize what it was—the first necklace she’d given him, the matte black piece swinging gently against his scrub top as his fingers worried the edges.
He was sweetly holding onto it, like it was a lifeline. Something about the sight tugged at her heart.

“You wanna sext me at work?” He leans back, raising his eyebrows. “That’s part of your plan to help me deal with keeping my hands to myself there?”
“I-I guess you’re right. I just thought it’s one of the only times we’re not— well, we’re not like this. Maybe that isn’t— I mean, if it’s a problem we can just—”
“It’s not a problem,” he cuts her off with his mouth.

Summary
“What’s up with you and Langdon?” Samira asked as they charted at central later in the day. Mel, who had been laying with her forehead against the cool table, shot up at the comment.
“What do you mean?” Mel had never been able to hide her affection for Dr. Langdon. The two of them just seemed to click in a way she didn’t with her other co-workers. But she had been careful to keep the professional boundary between them, especially once she found out from Princess and Perlah that he had been officially divorced.
Samira glanced between Mel and Langdon, who was speaking with the parent of a patient outside of one of the rooms. “He’s been watching you like a hawk all day. It’s weird.”
“He’s just worried,” Mel said, relaxing a bit. “He thinks I’m getting sick.”
Samira huffed. “He didn’t really care when Whitaker was sick two weeks ago. But then again, he’s not attached at the hip to Whitaker like he is with you.”
