Summary
Dick doesn't know a lot about what happened during the year Tim went missing. He knows that Bruce came back, that Ra's decided to attack Tim in Gotham just before Bruce returned, and that Dick failed Tim in one of the worst years of his life, for the both of them.
So finding the scar on Tim's left side shouldn't have surprised Dick. It still wasn't as surprising as what Tim said happened during his year away.
[The tags make this seem way worse than it actually is. Don't worry! It's pretty mild, most of it is implied and nothing is explicit other than the gore.]

Summary
For a moment Dick looked utterly stricken, but that was all the reaction that Jason got. It wasn’t like he wanted the man to drape himself over Jason in an overdramatic puddle of tears, but something would have been nice. Maybe a hug that lasted between 5-12 seconds. Maybe a solitary man-tear that slipped its way down Dick’s face. Anything that indicated ‘I’m so glad my brother came back from the dead because I grieved him in his absence.’

It all started by not fucking up his first meeting with Tim.
Literally anything would be better than last time—Jason still shuddered at the memory of his torture spree, so he couldn’t imagine how Tim felt about it—but he wanted it to go especially well. The Robin waiting in the Tower may not know Jason, but that was still his brother. Jason had fought alongside Tim, mourned him, cared for him. Of course, he couldn’t dump all of that onto the feet of a boy who was now a stranger, but Jason would be damned before he let any of his family out of his grasp this time around.or
