The Crew of the Perihelion is officially informed that the Pansystem University of Mihira and New Tideland's Annual Comp-Sci and Intelligent Design Fundraising Gala will be coinciding with your next registered shore leave. As per Administrations advice, it is recommended that crew holding senior positions make it a priority to attend as a representative of your department. Any other available crew is advised to also attend.
This year's guest list has already been mostly confirmed and it would be in good taste to respond with your crews attendance list promptly.

Look, it's not exactly easy to steal a shitton of money from a casino corporation.
They're paranoid as fuck, for starters, almost as paranoid as the company. As a general rule, you don't get nearly that rich by being anything short of obsessively protective of your ill-gotten gains. You're in the business of giving out hard currency to winners; you'd better be fucking sure that no one's hacking anything in your systems. Also, obviously, you have to have a plan for the thousands of rival corporations hoping for/plotting your downfall.
Basically, what I'm saying is that ART's idea of a relaxing vacation for its very first shore leave (yes, it had been a whole thing. For some reason Tarik had started it, and Pin-Lee and Mensah had gotten involved) was inadvisable from the start.

Hostile engaging. Abort mission. I sent it on instinct, even though I knew it was much too late for that.
What's going on? I could feel ART poking through my sensor data, trying to figure out what had made my threat assessment spike. Its tone was urgent, but calm. It wasn't sure yet if there was a legitimate threat or I was just having a Moment again.
The answer was probably a solid "both".
All of my organic parts told me to run.
Most of my inorganic parts also told me to run.
