Robin observed the scene with dark eyes, maintaining silence. Eddie sat across from her, also uncomfortable with the evening's atmosphere. Nancy nervously tapped her fingernails on the table, and Jonathan shifted his gaze from Will and Lucas to Dustin and Steve. Steve, who had lost his smile and joy at finally being able to make Dustin happy by playing Dungeons and Dragons after two hours of play. He sat next to Eddie with Dustin on the other side. He held his head in his hands and rubbed his temples while Dustin irritably explained to him how to calculate the character's damage.
Robin gritted her teeth; it was starting to get annoying.

Steve wouldn’t consider himself lonely. Sure, the kids had all gone their separate ways to college and sure, Robin was also long gone in Massachusetts, but he wasn’t lonely. Just…alone. In Hawkins. Which was fine. It meant he got to do things like meet Wayne Munson in the baking aisle on a Friday afternoon and get a kind-of-old second-best friend. Steve wasn't complaining, not even when Wayne kept bringing up his nephew...like a lot. He kind of sounded cool...
Or Steve becomes good friends with Wayne Munson who is more than happy to introduce him to his nephew Eddie.
