Katie Cruise wasn’t supposed to be here.
Never in her entire life did she think she would ever be on a spaceship being whipped around by a cosmic storm and coming back changed. Her life was altered the day she was called by her friend, who was working for Dr. Richards. The mission needed a medical professional on the manifest to receive the final stipend of government funding, and he had been tasked with finding that person.
Katie was an emergency room nurse. An ‘adequate’ fit for the position. The paycheck was huge, so naturally, despite being an outsider to this family, she took the job. If only it hadn’t all gone wrong. She came back from that cursed trip with the unnatural ability to control electricity. She could create it and manipulate existing power. The rest of the four took it in stride, embracing their powers and stepping into the spotlight. Katie wanted no part of it.
For four years, she kept her distance. Unable to avoid periodical check-ins with Reed, but other than that, the five that went up were only the Fantastic Four.
Until the Silver Surfer showed up with a promise of death, and Johnny Storm knocked on her door.
