This is, sort of, an Omniverse rewrite. Mainly expanding on events that happened in the show, trying to give more introspective, but changing some of the plots. Some things may be changed drastically from the canon source, but many things to just add another layer of depth to these characters. Mostly canon compliant in terms of characters, events, but order may change.

Summary
Gift giving was not something demons did. Birthdays may be remembered, but are hardly celebrated. The Ningenkai did things so differently, and he could not fathom the appeal. Three years have gone by since the first Makai tournament, and Hiei has grown in many ways; one being understanding. Perhaps this would be a year he participated in the human concept of gift giving on the celebration of a birthday.

Summary
"It isn't fair," Starscream’s voice cuts through the otherwise relative peace and quiet of their hab. He throws down a heavily crumpled piece of plastic and slumps dramatically onto the couch next to Skyfire. "Government issued trine matches are for losers that can’t get dates."
Starscream's issued a fresh new pair of trinemates and Skyfire missed his shot. At least, that's what he thinks before he meets them.
