    a beautiful rare fic from Duke's pov. set in a version of the Injustice universe. while this fic is dark and tragic it is comforting to know amongst a thousand faces Bruce will still recognise his son in every universe. in the end Duke saved Bruce and that's all that matters

    Cuno’s deciding whether he’s still on speaking terms with his pig. True, the pig stole his speed. But that’s just the nature of pigs. Maybe the pig can’t help it.

    KIM KITSURAGI – “But are you prepared for a long-term commitment? If you keep coming around, he might start to expect it, and if you stop...”

    EMPATHY – If you stop, or move on to your next mind project, it might make things worse than they were before you started. If Cuno has someone showing him kindness, it might hurt worse when it stops, because he was finally getting used to it.

    INLAND EMPIRE – Will it truly make it worse? Or will he just realize how bad it was?

    VOLITION – Kindness is rarely a complete mistake.

    YOU – “Look, today he has food in his belly, when he didn’t before. Tomorrow he might even come talk to me. Even if I, I dunno, die from a heart attack in a month, at least he’ll remember the stuff I did.”
