Summary
Gwen drifted off somewhere around the midway point of the journey, and Alice only barely managed to catch her before she slumped over into the lap of the man beside them. As she pulled Gwen against her by the waist, her heavy eyes drifted open briefly, glancing up at Alice from where her head had lolled against her shoulder.
She expected Gwen to bite out some half-embarrassed, sarcastic remark before pulling back into herself, fortifying her walls.
Alice swallowed back surprise at the soft, vulnerable expression she saw as Gwen settled into her, practically nuzzling her cheek into the collar of Alice’s coat.
She’s sick and exhausted and half asleep, that’s all. She reminded herself, and buried the disappointment as deep as her own denial.

Set in season 1, around episodes 18-19. Gwen gets a fever at work, and really, what choice does Alice have but to look after her?

Her flat was still several more blocks down, surely she could keep up her little intermittent sprinting routine…But once she would cross the street at the next block, the lampposts got more sparse, marking a decline in income of the residents. Alice cursed herself for not being born a trust-fund baby.
