Rin has been treated as worthless her entire life. For her gender, her skin color, her socioeconomic status. Through sheer will, she gets into Sinegard, where she will be introduced to an unimaginable amount of power that has an equally unimaginable price. But there are other ways of healing, she realizes; there are other ways of fighting for justice and for her people. Still ugly, but perhaps, she may end up with her life and the lives of those she loves intact.
Or: in which Rin bleeds but gets the opportunity to truly get better and move past her ghosts. Or: in which Venka finds a rival, and then someone who truly understands her pain, and then eventually a companion, and then more than a companion in Rin. Or: in which Altan gets people who finally, truly view him as human, and he manages to open his heart a bit more.

Dying, trapped in a crack in the world, Jayce has lost almost everything- save the memories. And in the darkness those come out in terrible, technicolor clarity. Every victory, every failure, how it all began- and how it ended. Every single time he stepped over the edge. Every time he fell.
(Jayce hadn't thought anything of him at first- easy to overlook an unwanted bureaucrat- easier still, to overlook a cripple.)
(Something sly about it, the cast of that pale face. Just how bright those golden eyes were, in the black. They seemed to catch the light, reflecting it back, like those of a young fox.)
Of course, falling didn't always hurt. Once, he had fallen in love.

This body’s history reveals itself in shades as he shifts under the sheets; the ghost of a spasm traveling through his bruise-lined leg, the familiar hitch of his own breath when he breathes in too deep. There is no taking the Undercity out of him even here and he is glad for it. At least that is the same, and though his body feels better— lighter— than it had been on some of his best days at the Academy, he wonders if perhaps he is still deteriorating.
He vaguely hopes he is. Among the many comforts of the cotton-soft sheets and buttery light of the bedroom, it is the only thing he deserves.

Post S2 finale, Viktor wakes up in a world seemingly too good to be true, except he's alone. Jayce finds him and tries to convince Viktor that he deserves to have good things, including a new life together. Among other things Jayce wants to give him.

Jayce and Viktor vanish from the roof of the Hexgate and reappear thirty years later completely unchanged: Jayce still bruised and broken, Viktor still behind the Machine Herald's mask.
Meanwhile, the twin cities of Piltover and Zaun have continued on without them. Science and magic meet in startling ways, the dead rise, and foreign political powers threaten to undermine the work done to recover from the battle three decades prior. Veteran champions struggle to protect the city's foundations while young, upstart rebels fight to determine its future. The waters are rising, the forests are evolving, and the peoples of Runeterra are finding new ways to make old mistakes.
And, in the middle of it all, Jayce and Viktor figure out how to be.
(Oct. 26th, 2025) Hello! I am not dead, both in the sense that fic writers normally use that phrase and also literally---if you know you know. As to why I haven't written, well, to use another popular saying literally: I've been losing braincells. This tends to get in the way of my productivity. Writing is slow but happening, so please have patience while the author gets their shit together. The Boys of Progress aren't the only ones figuring out how to be.)

Summary
Love is late nights spent ranting and raving about the future, a shared one, hopefully, cracking jokes high on lack of sleep. It is a hand on his back, on his shoulder, shielding his frail body or asking him not to get up, please, “don’t tire yourself”. Love is curious eyes following his every move, trying to determine what he will say next so another voice can finish his sentences for him. Love is something Viktor had never put much thought into until he’d seen its name written across multiple pages, impossible not to notice, more impossible yet to forget.

White-clothed medics rush over, hands devouring Caitlyn’s face and limbs. They try to peel her from Vi’s arms, assessing the blood-soaked rags around her thigh. Vi sinks down, trying to help them, but Caitlyn scrambles to stay in her hold.
“It’s alright, Kiramman. We’re going to bandage your wounds.”
“No no no no, Vi,” she pleads. “I have to find her.”
“We’ll find her, I promise.” Vi soothes, “Just let them help you first.”
Someone tries to disentangle Caitlyn’s grasp.
“No, Vi please—” her eyes are desperate. “Please!”
Vi tightens her grip.
“I need my mother.”

At my most objective, here are the options:- Putting the subject in a vertical position increases respiratory efficiency. Gravity no longer compresses on the lungs and standing allows the diaphragm to move with full lung expansion, optimizing airflow.
- The subject has been under the influence of the agent for nearly a full cycle. The body can be reasonably visualized with the escalation of total light emitted, in which all extremities appear intact with feasible function. The purpose of the experiment is to heal and restore, to an unknown, uncalculated degree.
The conclusion, regardless: Something is happening. This is not for nothing. And you will wake.

“This is...very different,” he murmured, his accent thick and rolling around the words as if testing them on his tongue. “What’s gotten into you?”
“Would it really be so bad,” Jayce began, speaking against the edge of Viktor’s lapel. “To share a name along with our dreams? Because I’d gladly take yours if you’d give it to me.”
Jayce's attempts at getting Viktor out of the lab lead to the pair becoming regulars at a coffee shop near the bridge. Things go well until an innocent misunderstanding nearly throws a cog into everything they've built between them.
